Cambodia's Tallest Bridge to Open in 2025

PURSAT: A bridge crossing the Russey Chrum River is set to be the tallest in Cambodia. The 28-month long construction project started in February and is scheduled for completion in May 2025.

The bridge across the Russey Chrum River in Chhay Lok village, Pursat province, is part of the National Road No. 10 construction project meant to connect the provinces of Battambang and Pursat to Koh Kong. With a $ 22.92 million price tag, the bridge measures 90 meters high, 530 meters long and ten meters wide and is expected to be completed by May 2025.

The National Road No.10 will span 198km and include 23 bridges, one of which will be the tallest in the country. The project began in 2019 and is estimated to cost nearly $190 million dollars and take four years to complete. The road itself is expected to open in December of this year.

The Ministry of Public Works and Transport says the project is on schedule, with almost 60% of it completed as of February 2023. They expect the new road to boost tourism in Koh Kong, especially in the Kiri Sakor District. It is also meant to promote economic development in regions that border neighboring countries.

Overall, the ministry hopes that the road will contribute to attracting investors and boosting exports in four Special Economic Zones (SEZs) along the route: Koh Kong, Suoy Chheng, Kiri Sakor, and Ratana.
